Women's Leadership Council

Freeborn & Peters LLP’s Women's Leadership Council (WLC) was established in 2007 to provide professional development, marketing support, networking opportunities and mentoring to our women Associates and Partners.  We also work to improve retention and promotion of women in the firm, creating an environment that offers boundless opportunities for our women attorneys and unparalleled service to our valued clients.  To achieve these goals, the WLC formalized three committees: Marketing, Social and Professional Development.

Marketing – The Marketing Committee of the WLC presents women attorneys with opportunities to expand and strengthen their personal and professional networks beyond the firm.  Our semi-annual events welcome women clients and friends of the firm to join us for such gatherings as wine tastings, spa nights and silent auctions, which promote the development of relationships with other professional women.

Social – The women attorneys of Freeborn & Peters work within all Practice Groups of the firm.  Yet, the Social Committee of the WLC recognizes that working together is not necessarily the same as spending quality time together and therefore provides women attorneys with planned social events and an excuse to have fun together.

Professional Development – Freeborn & Peters appreciates that women attorneys face a variety of unique challenges.  The Professional Development Committee of the WLC works in tandem with management, the Diversity Committee and Practice Group leaders to embrace these diverse perspectives while encouraging, mentoring and advancing women Associates and Partners within the firm.

This suite of WLC initiatives has dynamically advanced the professional development of women practicing at Freeborn & Peters – successfully enhancing their careers and sculpting their skills to become leaders both in the legal industry as well as role models within the community.

The elected Co-Chairs of the WLC are Catherine A. Miller and Gia F. Colunga.
