E-discovery Lab: Litigation Technology
Unlike many firms, Freeborn & Peters has developed an E-Discovery Lab where we process mailstores and electronic documents in-house. Our lab is highly developed and supervised by a technology professional at the director level. The E-Discovery process involves extracting the text, metadata and native files, which are then imported into a searchable Concordance database. In Concordance, we use customized scripts to manipulate data and create unique database fields that result in attorney document reviews that are substantially faster and thus more cost-efficient than standard document reviews. Our network infrastructure and data storage capacity have been configured to handle the growing volumes of electronic data.
Unlike vendors and many other firms, we do not charge for the processing or storage of data - we charge only for the time our E-Discovery professionals incur in overseeing this process. As a result, we have provided some of our clients with significant savings while providing a more timely and accurate result. We employ a forensic consultant for the actual on-site harvesting of data.
Our Litigation Technology professionals have developed a strategy and process to help our clients navigate the new FRCP relating to electronically stored information. We are prepared to assist our attorneys and clients from a technical standpoint through out the case lifecycle.
